چکیده

Poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG)/polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) hydrogels were synthesized by cross-linking norbornene end-functionalized polymers with a tetrafunctional thiol using thiol−norbornene chemistry. The swelling capacity and mechanical properties, including the Young’s modulus (E) and fracture toughness (Gc), of the hydrogels were characterized and quantified as a function of the volume fractions of PEG and PDMS. E and Gc increased simultaneously with the volume fraction of PDMS. The moduli of the hydrogels were quantitatively described and predicted as a function of the volume fraction ratio of PEG to PDMS using the Voigt and Reuss models. The fracture toughness was well described by the Lake−Thomas theory at low volume fractions of PDMS. As the volume fraction of PDMS increased, PDMS not only controlled the swelling capacity of the hydrogels but also contributed to hydrogel toughness.

Synthesis and characterization of tunable poly(ethylene glycol): gelatin methacrylate composite hydrogels.

Poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) hydrogels are popular for cell culture and tissue-engineering applications because they are nontoxic and exhibit favorable hydration and nutrient transport properties. However, cells cannot adhere to, remodel, proliferate within, or degrade PEG hydrogels. Methacrylated gelatin (GelMA), derived from denatured collagen, yields an enzymatically degradable, photocrosslin...

Photocrosslinked nanocomposite hydrogels from PEG and silica nanospheres: structural, mechanical and cell adhesion characteristics.

Photopolymerized hydrogels are extensively investigated for various tissue engineering applications, primarily due to their ability to form hydrogels in a minimally invasive manner. Although photocrosslinkable hydrogels provide necessary biological and chemical characteristics to mimic cellular microenvironments, they often lack sufficient mechanical properties. Recently, nanocomposite approach...

Modulation of Dental Pulp Stem Cell Odontogenesis in a Tunable PEG-Fibrinogen Hydrogel System

Injectable hydrogels have the great potential for clinical translation of dental pulp regeneration. A recently developed PEG-fibrinogen (PF) hydrogel, which comprises a bioactive fibrinogen backbone conjugated to polyethylene glycol (PEG) side chains, can be cross-linked after injection by photopolymerization. The objective of this study was to investigate the use of this hydrogel, which allows...
